Stacy Bernstein worked as the Human Resources Manager at a construction company in Anne Arundel County, Maryland before being constructively discharged on September 25, 2008. In October 2008, she retained legal counsel to guide her through the process of reporting her various concerns regarding what she believed to be unethical and illegal activities by senior management at her former employer. In May 2009, at the peak of what was becoming a very heated legal battle, Stacy's former employer falsely accused her of wrongdoings for which she was prosecuted. Although Stacy followed the procedures regarding reporting her former employer, the investigative process is a lengthy one, and in the meantime she became the victim of a horrific situation of whistleblower retaliation.
Those of you who are familiar with whistleblower activity know the deal with regards to retaliation and witness tampering.

Stacy is hopeful that the various regulatory agencies will do a thorough investigation. The regulatory agencies encourage complaints as a means to be informed of wrongdoing and an informant is supposed to be protected - so why was she retaliated against and charged with a crime?
